Client Case Study: Sheffield City Council

Doing R Bit were delighted to work with Sheffield City Council on one of their latest school streets projects. Transport planning team are responsible for delivering School Street Schemes across the city and were looking for a solution to compliment the entrance of their School Street scheme.

Following discussions with Doing R Bit, bespoke, sustainably made planters put forward allowing pupils to get involved with growing and caring for the plants in the planter. This offers a good opportunity to understand a bit more around the importance of clean air around the scheme. Not only this but the planters will support pollinators and absorb CO2 near the school gate.

The planters were bespoke and made to measure, so they would fit on the narrow highway. The design included a lower bottom planter meaning that smaller children in the school gardening club can help maintain them.

“They look professional and help make the scheme stand out and be respected. We had a fantastic service throughout, and it is great to work with nice people who are simply doing their bit!” said Kat Harrison

Dave Spencer, Doing R Bit founder said “We are delighted to support Sheffield City Council in implementing their new school street scheme. We are glad that we could play our part in supporting better air quality at the school gate. We are really looking forward to seeing how the school gardening club get on with the planters and look forward to seeing the results”
